Public Defenders: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
The Miranda warning includes the right to a public defender. It doesn’t include the fact that public defenders are highly overworked and grossly underpaid.

🇺🇸My Country Feedback🦅 🇺🇸My Daily Office🦅 Today Informed the authorities regarding the agents, some of whome are foreign nationals, and others who are American, engaged in corrupt, dishonorable, malicious, veinaly and mortally evil intelligence operation intended to misappropriated me into severely federally punishable criminal group activity. The group attempted unsuccessfully to co opt me and detain me for their own illicit purposes. I raised hell against it today at Office Depot on Figieroa Street. The agents were beside themselves with desperation as they attempted to falsely induct mand detain me for criminal purposes. Purposes of fraudulent, fictitious, felonious, make-believe, pretendn frivilous criminal litigation. I remember this old trick from the 1980s to foment fraudulent litigation back then too. It is legal group including but not limited to LA County Public Defenders. It's a syndicate. They are dishonorable people. They attempted to conduct me, induct me, detour me, away from the righteous path of abstinence from sin, Abstenance from smoking, abstinence from intoxicants, abstinence from liquor, abstenance from dope, drugs and narcotics. These people are unknown agents. Whose careers and lifesyles are built upon lies. Instead of stopping what they should not be doing, they go on and attempt to add more crimes. The County Public Defender group is corrupt, malicious, and dishonorable. Not knowing what else to do about their bold attempted to aggange for me an unwanted relationships, even to the extreme of coercion, and seeking to inerrupt my legitimate activities, and replace my legitimate activities with illegal activities. These agents are idiots. I observed today and outspoken, mentioned this problem of idiocy. An hour later, I informed the Deputy Sheriff of the dishonorable and malicious attempted to detain and defraud, and corrupt. These were older people who put the youngsters up to it. And hour after that. I informed desk officer at LAPD headquarters of the illegally detain me as part if their illegal, fraudulent, pretend, make-believe criminal casses. The entire infrastructure is dishonorable. Corrections is dishonorable, Public Defenders are dishonorable. I told the LAPD Officer that this is someone else's tradition, involving "hen-pecked" group members, and "pecking order" behavior. They've been thieves all of these years engaging in dishonorable litigation. Make-believe litigation, pretend-litigation. Sending people to hell wrongfully. Pretending to defend. Pretending to defend while in fact and actuality, not defending at all. That's the way it looks to me. Sincerely, gospelgirl I informed the Federal Trade Commission of this dishonorable attempt. I intend to inform the FBI USAttorney General California Attorney General The Government

How about this: for the 1 public defender who has 1,000 cases a year to deal with, why not create a program that allows law school students to help build a proper defense, with all the legwork involved, and assign the public defender the overseeing position over these teams of law school students. Check their work and do the court work/litigation. Instead of cramming in 3 cases a day, with all the work involved, use the time in a much more practical way. Law schools suck, public defenders are swamped, and clients get the crappy end of the stick. Kill three birds with one stone.

When he says that we have only had the right to an attorney since 1963, he is only technically right. 1963 was when the Supreme Court ruled that the sixth amendment applied to the states thanks to the due process clause of the 14 amendment (this is the clause through which the bill of rights applies to the states). This was a reversal of the 1932 decision that the rules the sixth amendment only applied to defendants in federal court. Look up Gideon, he was actually crazy interesting. He stopped formal schooling at 14, taught himself law in jail, and filed his appeal to the Supreme Court on prison memo paper

Please Do A Piece on Michael Jackson Hi, I’m writing to you because Last Week Tonight as opposed to other such shows actually cares about issues rather than chasing the headlines. It has been 11 years since Michael Jackson passed away yet to this day what the common consensus is that he is a taboo subject for many. I recall you guys once did a piece on Public Shaming. Michael Jackson was a genius, an abused child. He was strange. He was one of the few major stars from the 80s who came out of the 80s without a heroine addiction. He in his own way did many, Many strange things, but so do most other superstars. And more than others he actually cared. About children, about the earth. About the issues we are discussing to this day. While Icons like Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Prince, Beetles and many more are known for their good works, Michael is known for the something which he has repeatedly been acquitted for. It’s the truth that anyone looking for will find instantly but due to the “where there is smoke there is a fire” narrative, even 11 years after his death, the new media treats him like a criminal. All his trial pages are open for the public to read. He WAS weird. Making a ranch called neverland, hanging out with children. Trusting people he shouldn’t. But I urge you please cover him, hear beyond the noise like you guys often do. The most successful African American Artist of all time was a humble man child, who respected women, loved children and cared about our environment. He was not a heroine junkie, a private man who did not share his disease even all the way back in 1993 even though he was accused of wanting to become a “White Man”. He was eccentric. Hanging out with animals and caring about them. theobjectivestandard.com/2020/02/justice-for-michael-jackson/ This article covers multiple sources, some of which I had read previously. Michael Jackson was a multi talented millionaire pop star, who was not an alcoholic, was a caring father, a filial son, Treated women with respect, cared about the planet and it’s beings. The press that constantly kept DASHING him, had found a way to subvert their guilt. All those years of calling him a “Jacko”, “monkey” and many more hurtful things was justified if he was a paedophile. They NEEDED him to be guilty. Such a man cannot exist in Hollywood. Such public shaming had allowed and to this day allows Michael to be a victim to all this slander. Please do a piece, if not one that exonerates him then one that once and for all cements the fact the Michael Jackson, the greatest pop star, the first African American Idol was a paedophile. Not through unknown sources or flimsy headlines but through concrete proof. A news echoing in a closed chamber will not reach anyone, most fans who what to know the truth know it, other people will read the headlines but not the explanations. It’s about time the general public knows. Please do a piece on Michael, the blatant mistreatment by the media, The systematic racism he faced during his trials. Please don’t let the first African American Singer be remembered for the things he did not do, He was weird, weird enough to annoy Freddie Mercury with Bubbles feedbacks, weird enough to let kids crack raw eggs over Michael Jackson, Weird enough to play water balloons with children. But he was not a paedophile and the world needs to acknowledge that. He was in no way a “Perfect Human” but he tried his best to live right and we should not punish him for doing that. On this year please exonerate this Black man, the Justice System has done it two decades ago, it’s about time everyone else does. Please do a piece on Michael Jackson.

You probably have a better chance at trial just representing yourself. Honestly I took a charge in kansas and it was a possession charge and they amended it to a distribution. Even though I was never even caught with the substance on my personal body. I wasn't arrested either. And I ended up having to pay for my public defender 500.00 and on top of all that, Once I was released from a Residential Center in Johnson county Ks I moved back home and got a job and per my agreement for my probation transfer I had to pay 150.00. Which I was cool with. Well I ended up paying it off and the fines I had from joco courts went to collections. And on top of the 2500 dollar fines which the public defenders fee was included, I now had to pay the collection agency another 1000.00 for a filing fee. If I would've known that paying my 150.00 dollar transfer fee wasn't going to be reported and my account was going to be sent to collections I would've made some kind of payment. But that's where I feel like our judicial system is so crooked it makes Robin hood look like a super hero

Ok, so, love your work. Some fights are worth fighting for. But....our hero ,Larry got himself into a bunch of traffic violations. Enough so that he gets arrested and thrown in the can. Now he can't afford 50 bucks to get his ass out. Everything goes downhill for this poor man after that, to an extremely stupid level. So I ask...how could he afford having a car in the first place? And if he could...maybe improve your driving skills enough so as to not continue getting violations...our man needed some up front common sense before needing to be bailed out by the public. Help this guy pay his rent or doctors bills instead of traffic violations he shouldn't have had in the first place....just sayin...keep up the great work Mr. Oliver

Well it's a country where over 90% of workers are unable to take public transport to work, and where municipalities are planned with cars rather than human beings in mind. Not driving is simply not an option for most people here.
heid shows5 oy oldin
I live in one of those overworked counties, and am an attorney who does pro-bono criminal work. I've seen some pretty shitty stuff done by the PD's. I'll give one example: a girl was arrested for a DUI. She blew a .05. BUT, she blew a .05 on her 11th (ELEVENTH) time blowing into the machine. The public defender pleaded her guilty even though the DA said he was going to drop the case. I can't even get mad at the PD's office, because as John says, 40% of the PD's offices don't have investigators. You know who DOES have investigators? The DA"s office. You know who you never hear about having funding issues or staffing issues? DA's office. The system is astronomically stacked.

I know I’m super late, but I just wanna bring up my personal story-that-never-was, since it kinda relates to this. I was sexually assaulted by another patient at a mental hospital (the hospital was horrible; horrible conditions, the whole nine yards, it was an Autism Dual Diagnosis clinic, it was bad, as most Autism mental health clinics are still today [illuminaughti if I spelled that right made a video about a clinic that was sponsored by Autism Speaks, so this is normal unfortunately.]) I’ve moved past it for the most part, mostly because the trauma that he put me through sent me into a descent that revealed people in my life that I really need to get rid of, and that I had bigger fish to fry than the 17 year old (I was 15) who had ASPD and didn’t know any better than to act like his Hannibal namesake because he wasn’t getting proper treatment either. Anti Social Personality Disorder is treatable; evil people, legal paperwork, and poverty are not. When I finally got dumped on my mom’s doorstep multiple states away when my Dad decided his witch wife was more important than his daughter, I decided to look into pursuing charges (back then, still upset.) I could not. Apparently Springbrook (the clinic in South Carolina, it even has a bogus website with all the pictures cut perfectly so you cannot see the old “shell shock” building falling apart and molding at the seams, since yes, the building used to be for old fashioned storage of PTSD patients, and us kids even believe it’s haunted by a hanging, lovely) had written that I consented to sexual interactions, and that the measures taken were to prevent a relationship, NOT to prevent a rape or unwanted presence. I went to my therapist with what I had and asked her what I could do about it, and she basically said the same thing all of us are saying: it’s a pay to pass system. I’d have to pay a lawyer an obscene amount of money to negotiate that the paperwork was fraudulent, THEN go after Springbrook AND the boy. And since the boy was (in this case) particularly affluent, that meant it would probably be a long fight. It stopped right there, my mom worked for Walgreens, if we got into a car accident, we’d be fucked if it weren’t for my mom’s fiancé. So yeah, a boy got away with sexual assault. It changed me, yes. It sent me spinning, yes. But, I guess I’m ok with it. Statute of limitations will probably be over by the time I get the money anyway, and as a new Christian, I am trying to learn to forgive others like I’m supposed to. And if he doesn’t turn around, I know he’ll get what he deserves either way. I hope this made some sense. Glad to see you all in the not-so-lovely year of 2020.

It's truly disgusting, really... admitting to a crime you had nothing to do with just so you can go home instead of... wait... never mind. Women put men in jail with false accusations on a daily basis, regardless of the defender's lawyer. Nevertheless, a system where that happens is pretty much another Portuguese Inquisition and for that, they had a guy called Sebastião José de Carvalho e Mello, though without using it to assassinate priests who didn't agree with him.
